The High Performance Computing and Analytics Lab
Development of the HPC/A strategy
The High-Performance Computing and Analytics Lab (HPC/A Lab for short) coordinates and bundles activities relating to high-performance computing (HPC) at the University of Bonn. The Lab’s mission includes planning for and coordination of the central HPC infrastructure of the University of Bonn in collaboration with the HPC team at the University Computer Centre.
Bridging role
The HPC/A Lab serves as central contact point for research projects involving HPC, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and coordinates interaction with the team responsible for operating the central computing infrastructure.
Advice
The HPC/A Lab provides University researchers advice on approaching specific application and method-related problems, and refers contacts for potential collaboration.
Early-career researchers
Training seminars, workshops and continuing education courses are offered to promote HPC knowledge and skills at the University, designed in partnership with the HPC operations team and other experts.
Infrastructure
The HPC/A Lab centrally documents HPC demand at the University of Bonn and facilitates HPC procurement among other things as part of the University’s overarching strategic planning.
Projects
Collaboration in statewide expertise networks like HPC.NRW and in third-party funded projects furthers interdisciplinary dialog at the University of Bonn as an HPC location.
Research
The HPC/A-Lab pursues innovative research projects and participates in research collaborations.
HPC Academic Advisory Board
The HPC Academic Advisory Board advises the HPC/A-Lab and University IT’s HPC Team on strategic matters.
